Amazon Deals

So, Amazon sends me emails to tell about deals, I generally respond by going, "That's nice, but it doesn't matter.  I'm broke."  But sometimes the deals are things that I think others might be interested in, which I usually respond to by forgetting about until after the deal is over.  Which does nobody any good.

Here's an attempt not to do that:

The Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy Gift Set was on sale for a week, but today is the last day of that week, so if you want it act fast:

It is currently selling for less than half price, it includes the three movies, what appears to be a sculpture of a t-rex breaking through the gate and... um... *deep breath*  Return to Jurassic Park: Six-part documentary featuring all-new interviews with directors Steven Spielberg and Joe Johnston plus cast and crew; Archival Featurettes; The Making of All 3 Jurassic Park Films Original Featurettes on the Making of the Films; Steven Spielberg Directs Jurassic Park; Hurricane in Kauai Featurette; The Jurassic Park Phenomenon: A Discussion with Author Michael Crichton; The Compie Dance Number: Thank You Steven Spielberg From ILM; The Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park III; The Special Effects of Jurassic Park III; The Industrial Light & Magic Press Reel; The Sounds of Jurassic Park III; The Art of Jurassic Park III; Montana: Finding New Dinosaurs; Behind the Scenes; Early Pre-Production Meetings; Location Scouting; Animatics; Before and After the Visual Effects; Foley Artists; Storyboards; Tour of Stan Winston Studio; A Visit to ILM; Spinosaurus Attacks the Plane; Raptors Attack Udesky; The Lake; Production Archives: Production Photographs, Design Sketches, Illustrations, Conceptual Paintings, Models, The World of Jurassic Park, The Magic of ILM, Posters and Toys; Deleted Scenes; Jurassic Park: Making the Game; Jurassic Park III Feature Commentary with Special Effects Team; Theatrical Trailers; Blu-ray Exclusives; BD-Live: Access the BD-Live Center through your Internet-connected player to watch the latest trailers and more; My Scenes: Bookmark your favorite scenes; Pocket BLU App: Experience an exciting new way with the app for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and now enhanced for iPad; and D-Box.  Whatever the hell a D-box is.

So if that sounds interesting to you, and you want to get it at less than half price, and you have a bluray player which I don't, buy it by midnight.  This, once again, is the link.

I once saw a documentary that briefly interviewed someone who worked at a place that made CDs and records.  In the beginning people asked, "They still make records," but times changed and people asked, "They still make CDs?"  Anyway, they still make both and apparently if you buy either you get the MP3 version free.

There's apparently a spring deal on every category imaginable, whether or not anything you want in those categories remains to be seen.

And Amazon assures me that its best deals are here.

  1. In the UK at least, buying CDs or DVDs and ripping them yourself is usually cheaper than the download, gives you a free physical-media backup, and isn't encumbered with DRM...
